About Settler Security

When I was a kid in the 90s, I rode my bike all over the neighborhood with my friends. We popped into each other’s houses, cut through yards, and explored the undeveloped woodland behind the cul de sac. There were a few houses we knew to avoid and a few frightening neighborhood dogs, but we were comfortable and safe.

I wish I could let my kids play the same way, but it doesn’t seem wise. Crime is rising and police are stretched thin. Even in the suburbs, green spaces and the gaps between strip malls are home to fentanyl and vagrants. Alarming international trends like cable theft and cellular jammers show up in national news.

After a 15-year career in advertising & media, it was time to find something different to do. I decided that I wanted to help contribute to a world where my kids could roam the neighborhoods again. To make use of the skills I’d developed in corporate professional services, I chose private security. In particular, I’d seen the impact that AI was beginning to have in media and hypothesized that world of security cameras was probably in for radical shakeup as well.

I worked with experienced law enforcement and private security professionals to develop key operational frameworks and evaluated close to 100 technology companies, selecting industry leaders as partners. Together, these make up an top-tier portfolio of surveillance and security solutions for our commercial and community clients.

While Settler currently focuses on selling cameras and related services, it is our mission to contribute to the prosperity of our communities. “Prosperity” goes beyond security alone to include the health and vibrancy of businesses and neighborhoods.

If security issues are challenging your prosperity, please get in touch. If the solutions we carry don’t address the issue, we will gladly refer you to one of the partners in our deep network of security professionals.

Sincerely,

Nelson
